S is for sneak thief!

...otherwise known as the grey squirrel

who is rather fond of helping himself to the food I put out for the birds.

You have to admire his agility,

his cheek,

and his persistence!

He has a few more seeds to go yet, so while he's finishing their dinner, maybe you would like to saunter over to Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday to see what else is on offer.

  1. Those grey squirrels are a pest over here, and have rapidly over run our brown squirrels. It's fun, though, to watch their antics at the bird feeders!

  3. They have a squirrel just like this on Curious George. He is super bold.

  4. Love the action shots...

You could always name him "Smeagol" ... which would be another "S"

  5. I rarely see squirrels in my yard--mostly packrats--but one day we found a HUGE one in our catch and release trip Rod had set for the packrat who was making Mulligan crazy. It was a shock!

  6. I suppose he might look like Smeagol but I'm not really sure. I think he looks more like Sneaky Sam, but then I'm not sure of that either. Hey! someone noticed the clock! Hooray!

  7. Our squirrels do that, too.

They also chewed a hole in our roof.

    Grrrr.

  8. That's why I don't feed the birds. We're overrun with squirrels. I toss out special food for cardinals that squirrels won't eat. Sadly, pigeons and blue jays love it too.

  12. I love squirrels and really don't mind at all if they share the birdseed. Your pictures are superb, H, and I always enjoy your captions and accompanying text. You should publish a children's book with all your best animal captures and stories :)

  14. Lovely photographs. I reckon it is the birds trying to steal the squirrels' food.

  15. Great photos! We have a squirrel that pinches seed from the small cups we put at the top of the garden for the little birds. Squirrel has hung from the sides so many times it has bent them over:)
