A 99 with two flakes and toffee sauce please :)

This barge moors here, on the Leeds & Liverpool canal, for the summer; selling ice creams to passers by. It is definitely more quirky than the usual ice cream van :)

  1. Make mine a chocolate chip and I'll be right over.

What a great idea for a place to sell ice cream.

  4. That sounds wonderful - and then to sit and eat it by the canal - Bliss!

  5. How wonderful to buy ice cream from a barge in a canal next to a leafy green path.
The tourist in me wants to be there, now !

I adore your charming avatar photo. So sweet.

  6. If it is blocking the canal, do they have to put traffic cones around it?

  7. We went for a long walk along the Trent and Mersey Canal this morning and I could have done with finding that ice cream barge along the way:)

  9. Cool barges, but is the ice cream really good? I gained 10 lbs while in Romania, and blame a lot of it on eating obscene amounts of fantastic ice cream... (five have already come off since I've been home... woohoo)

  10. Love it! I've always thought how peaceful and romantic it would be to take a barge cruise.

  11. Thats our boat or should I say barge. We are here in Saltaire for most of the year and unlike ice cream vans we now do 8 flavours of proper ice cream. There are very few working barges on our canals now but we are proud to be a small part of a long tradition with our boat.

    1. Next time I am visiting Saltaire, I will be sure to stop by for an ice cream :)

      This time, I'll say "Hello".
